Environmental Values

[photo:] Looking up at tree branches against the sky.

People’s diverse environmental values and viewpoints influence how they interact with the environment and how they think natural environments should be treated.  There are often conflicts between different values and viewpoints and these must be considered in land management and resource policy decisions.

Through our research, we try to understand the range of values that people hold for natural environments and how these values influence their actions.  We develop methods to evaluate and address compromises and trade-offs among a range of environmental values.
