"Performance Enhancement is the science behind the art of leadership. I have been emphasizing mental preparation for over 10 years, and finally the Army has a program that teaches this science."
- MG Glenn Webster Former 31D CG
CSF-PREP provides a systematic way to build mental and emotional strength using scientifically tested, evaluated, and validated education methods from the fields of sport and performance psychology. This program fills a recognized gap in the Army's doctrine and training that directly addresses how to develop the psychological attributes deemed critical to success on the battlefield and throughout life. CSF-PREP education seeks to provide Warriors, family members and DA Civilians the skills to be self-regulating, instinctive, adaptive and mentally agile under intense pressure, while contributing to personal hardiness and resilience.
CSF-PREP opens 13th site at Fort Bragg, NC supporting the XVIII Airborne Corps.
ACEP officially rebrands to CSF-PREP. CSF-PREP opens 12th site at Ft. Benning, GA.
ACEP, now CSF-PREP, begins supporting the EOD school (Phase 1).
The Army launches Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF), a holistic fitness program for Soldiers, family members and Army civilians. CSF teaches Soldiers, family members and Army civilians resilience, thinking skills, coping strategies, and performance enhancement skills that enable a higher level of performance, especially under pressure, on a more consistent basis..
Sites open at Ft. Knox, KY; West Point, NY; Water Reed; Ft. Gordon, GA; Ft. Jackson, SC; Ft. Bliss, TX; Ft. Sam Houston, TX; Ft. Hood, TX; Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA.
The first ACEP, now CSF-PREP, site opens at Ft. Bragg, NC.
GEN Peter Schoomaker, then Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA), recognizes the demand and need for mental skills education, directing the CEP to develop a program capable of meeting the evident training gap. GEN Schoomaker's decision is considered the origin of Comprehensive Soldier Fitness-Performance and Resilience Enhancement Program, (CSF-PREP), formerly the Army Center for Enhanced Performance (ACEP).
Between 1999-2004, the CEP sends Mobile Training Teams to meet the demands of CSF-PREP.
The Center for Enhanced Performance (CEP) was established at the United States Military Academy at West Point to provide mental skills training and academic support to the Cadets.
