Col Robert D. Morschauser

Commander, 18th Fires Brigade (Airborne)

  Colonel Robert D. Morschauser is a native of Fairless Hills, PA, and a graduate of Trenton State University, Trenton, NJ. He was commissioned in 1987 through 51st Company, Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, GA.

His first assignment was as a Company Fire Support Officer with Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Republic of Korea. COL Morschauser then served as a Platoon Fire Direction Officer and then Platoon Leader, A Battery, 1st Battalion (Airborne), 39th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and in August of 1990, deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Immediately following redeployment from Operation Desert Storm, COL Morschauser attended the Field Artillery and Infantry Advance Courses and then was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Ord, California. COL Morschauser served as the Division Artillery’s Logistics Officer and then Commander, Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Battery, 7th Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment.

COL Morschauser returned to Fort Bragg in 1994 where he served as Commander, C Battery, 1st Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment (Airborne), Fort Bragg, NC. In August of 1996 COL Morschauser was assigned to the National Training Center (NTC), Fort Irwin, CA and served as a Firing Battery and Senior Light Task Force Fire Support Observer/Controller. He then attended the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS, where he also earned a Master’s Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.

In 1999, COL Morschauser again returned to Fort Bragg, NC, where he initially was assigned as the Current Operations Officer, XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery. He then served as Operations Officer for 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment and the 18th Field Artillery Brigade (Airborne). COL Mosrchauser was then designated as the Commander of a Field Artillery detachment which included the initial High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) platoon during its first operational deployment supporting a Joint Special Operations Task Force during the initial months of Operation Iraqi Freedom. COL Morshauser then served as a Joint Special Operations Fire Support Officer, the Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC.

In 2005, Colonel Morschauser assumed command of 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, NY, and deployed with his unit to Mahmudiyah, Iraq for 15 months during the Operation Iraqi Freedom “surge”. Colonel Morschauser then served for a year as the Senior Fire Support Observer/Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), Fort Polk, LA and then attended the U.S. Army War College where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies. COL Morschauser recently returned from Afghanistan where he was assigned as the Liaison Officer for a Joint Special Operations Task Force to the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters.

Colonel Morschauser is married to the former Marlene Porter of Fairless Hills, PA. They have two children; Paige, 18, and Conner, 14.

Roger W. Jacobs 

Command Sergeant Major, 18th Fires Brigade (Airborne)

CSM Roger W. Jacobs Jr. was born on April 20, 1969 in Pittsburgh, PA. He entered the service on April 12, 1988 and attended basic training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Sill, OK; where he became an 82C, Field Artillery Surveyor followed by Airborne Training at Ft. Benning GA. CSM Jacobs married the former Karen Renee Hubsch from Pittsburgh, PA on December 13, 1991. He has three daughters Jessica 23, Erika 22, and Tara 22.

He has deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom with 4-25 ABN BCT, Operation Iraqi Freedom II with the 1st Infantry Division and Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm with the 18th Airborne Field Artillery Brigade. He has served in a wide variety of assignments throughout his career. CSM Jacobs is currently the 18th Fires BDE CSM, prior to his current assignment he was the 3-27 FAR BN CSM, Fort Bragg, NC, 2-377 PFAR BN CSM, Fort Richardson Alaska,18th FRES BDE OPS SGM, Fort Bragg, NC, the 1st Infantry Division Fire Support Element Sergeant Major, Wurzberg, GE, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery DIVARTY 1SG, Bamberg, GE, Alpha Battery and Headquarters and Headquarters Battery 1st BN, 7th FA 1SG, Schweinfurt, GE. Observer Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Ft. Polk, LA, Chief  Surveyor and Platoon Sergeant in HHB DIVARTY and 3rd BN, 319th AFAR, 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC, to name a few.

CSM Jacobs has completed several military courses to include the all levels of NCOES, First Sergeant Course, Battle Staff NCO Course, Jumpmaster Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Small Group and Instructor Training Courses, and Air Assault Course. CSM Jacobs awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (2nd Award), the Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), Army Commendation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (6th award), Valorous Unit Award 2, Meritorious Unit Citation 3, Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal (w/bronze star), ACM w 2 bronze stars, ICM w 2 bronze stars, Southwest Asia Medal (w/ 2 bronze stars), Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 7), MOVSM, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Drivers Badge, Combat Action Badge, and French Parachutist Badge. CSM Jacobs also was inducted into the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club in 1998 and SGT Morales Club in 2001.
