The U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Niger, Bisa Williams, presented her credentials to President of the Supreme Council for the Restoration of Democracy Djibo Salou on October 29, 2010.

Ambassador Williams is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and served most recently as acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. Prior to that, she served as Coordinator for Cuba Affairs at the Department.

Ambassador Williams joined the Foreign Service in 1984. She served in the White House as the Director for International Organizations from 2005 to 2007. Her overseas postings include Port Louis, Mauritius, Paris, France, U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York, Panama City, Panama, and Conakry, Guinea. Ambassador Williams speaks French, Spanish, and Portuguese. She is a graduate of the National War College of the National Defense University in Washington, D.C., the University of California, Los Angeles, and Yale College.
