Alaska ANG KC-135s provide edge anytime, anywhere

Staff Sgt. Christian Willey handles the controls during a KC-135 Stratotanker aerial-refueling mission May 8 over Alaska. The flight was part of Northern Edge 2008, the largest military training exercise in Alaska, which began May 5 and concludes May 16. Phone Home

EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska--Airman 1st Class Nikiynecole Felder, 354th Fighter Wing Public Affairs graphic artist, donates an old phone to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, Sept. 4 at the 168th Air Refueling Wing Headquarter's building. Cell Phones for Soldiers recycles old and unwanted cell phones for cash. The cash is used to buy pre-paid calling cards which are then distributed to U.S. troops. EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Senior Airman Brian Binkley, a KC-135 Stratotanker Boom Operator with the 168th Air Refueling Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, completes an equipment function check prior to a refueling mission on Feb 10, 2005. EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Master Sgt Keith Henrys, a KC-135 boom operator, 168th Air Refueling Squadron, 168th Air Refueling Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, watches as a Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet from VFA-41 "Black Aces", home based at NAS Lemoore, California, uses a Drogue type refueling system during a refueling mission on 21 July 2004 by a KC-135R Stratotanker belonging to the Alaska Air National Guard, during exercise Cooperative Cope Thunder 2004-01. KC-135 Stratotanker Drogue

EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Master Sgt Steven Forgue, a boom operator with the 168th Air Refueling Squadron, 168th Air Refueling Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, stationed at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, inspects a Drogue refueling basket on a KC-135R Stratotanker belonging Alaska Air National Guard prior to taking off for a refueling mission in support of Cooperative Cope Thunder 2004-01 on 21 July 2004. The KC-135 Stratotanker's principal mission is air refueling. This unique asset greatly enhances the USAF's capability to accomplish its primary missions of Global Reach and Global Power.
