Guidelines

“Clinical practice guidelines are systematically developed statements to assist practitioner and patient decisions about appropriate health care for specific clinical circumstances.” (Institute of Medicine, 1990).  Guidelines are based upon a systematic review of the evidence. There is increased interest in clinical practice guidelines for providers, patients, policymakers, and payers because the effective use of guidelines has a positive impact on the quality, consistency and costs of healthcare.

There are many clinical practice guidelines for behavioral health disorders and chronic conditions that are applicable to the integrated care setting.  Information on guidelines will be provided in this section.
