Col. A.R. 'Riz' Ali is Commander, Air Force Network Integration Center, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. AFNIC is the Air Force's premier organization for Air Force Network integration, cyber simulation, and network standards, architecture and engineering services. The center serves as the focal point for integrating mission systems, business systems, commercial information technology products and other networks into the Air Force Network (AFNet). As part of this AFNet integration mission, Colonel Ali leads the Air Force's #1 cyber priority, the AFNet Migration, which consolidates the service's previous standalone networks into a centrally managed enterprise network that enhances security, reduces costs and improves standardization.
Colonel Ali graduated from the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J., in 1988 and earned his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program. He has commanded two squadrons and an expeditionary mission support group. He has also served on the Air Staff, a Combatant Command Staff, in five Major Commands, two overseas locations and participated in contingency operations in Southwest Asia, Africa and Europe. Colonel Ali is a career communications/cyber professional and a member of the Space Cadre with nine years experience working space systems and issues.
