SLRP Grantees

State Loan Repayment Program

Welcome to the State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP)! As a SLRP grantee, you are joining a network of states committed to supporting primary care providers dedicated to building healthy communities in areas of the United States with limited access to care.

SLRP is a federally-funded program that provides cost-sharing grants to states and territories to assist them in operating their own state educational loan repayment programs for primary care providers working in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) within their state.

Entities eligible to apply for the SLRP cost-sharing grant program include the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Palau, the Marshall Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

SLRP varies from state to state, and may differ in eligible disciplines, practice sites, length of required service commitment and the amount of loan repayment assistance offered. However, there are certain statutory requirements SLRP grantees must meet. For example, any SLRP program participant must practice at an eligible site located in federally-designated HPSAs that corresponds with the provider’s training. State Loan Repayment Programs are not required to include all eligible disciplines in their state programs.
