You will receive instruction from your HR representative as to where and when to report on your first day. If you do not have a NAVSEA badge, then someone will meet you at the front gate to escort
you on to the Navy Yard.
In preparation for your arrival, you will need:
- A picture I.D.;
- A blank check from your bank for direct deposit purposes; and
- Proof of your U.S. citizenship (original birth certificate, original Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization, or a U.S. issued passport).
Dress Code
Employees at NAVSEA exhibit the look that confirms the Command’s professionalism for our customers, our partners, and our coworkers. This means dressing in a manner that reflects the utmost decorum and professional demeanor. Business attire is worn during normal operations; casual business attire can be worn on Fridays.
Business attire, to be worn Monday-Thursday, includes the following:

Blazers, suit, or sport coats
Dress slacks
Ties
Dress shirts with collars and buttons
Dress Shoes
Women:
Dresses
Skirts

Weather/Emergency Conditions
NAVSEA operating procedures are directly dependent on the operating status of the Federal government. To be aware of this status at any given time, including specifics for employees in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, use the OPM Operating Status and Schedules Page. The information provided on this page will be updated immediately upon a determination that operating status is anything other than OPEN. If you do not have access to the internet, you may call (202) 606-1900. In case of emergency or inclement weather, please do not report to work.
