BUSINESS PROGRAM: Ecosystem Restoration and Navigation with Beneficial Use of Dredged Material (CCS: Nav-111)

AUTHORITY: Senate Resolution on Beneficial Use of Dredged Material on the Delaware River, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania dated 26 October 2005. 

LOCATION: Delaware River and Estuary

DESCRIPTION: This feasibility study will determine if any modifications of the recommendations for Federal and non-Federal interests for the Delaware River between Philadelphia to Trenton, and Philadelphia to the Sea Federal projects are advisable in the interest of beneficial use of dredged material, including transfer and transport facilities for the drying, rehandling, and transferring of dredged material, as it relates to comprehensive watershed and regional sediment management, ecosystem restoration, navigation, stream restoration, water quality, restoration of coal and other mined areas, cover material for sanitary landfills and other allied purposes.

STATUS: FY09 and FY10 funds were used to identify beneficial use opportunities, and develop the Reconnaissance Report.  FY11 and FY12 funds were used to develop a Scope of Work, identify a non-Federal sponsor, and finalize a Sponsor Letter of Intent.  The Feasibility Study will commence once a Feasibility Cost Sharing Agreement has been executed.
