Welcome to the Directorate of Public Works (DPW's) website.  We are a multi-divisional directorate.  We function as a key installation manager and, as such, provide advice and assistance to the Commander, U.S. Army Signal Center and Fort Gordon on matters pertaining to staff responsibility for planning and directing  engineering activities, including real property management, environmental protection, and management of other related installation support actions involved in assuring the effective training of personnel.  DPW administers the base support for engineering  activities, establishes policies, reviews performances, and provides acceptances of contractor services.

The following link provides information on The Air Protection Branch, which helps provide Georgia's citizens with clean air and works closely with other branches of Georgia's Environmental Protection Division (EPD) to assure compliance with environmental laws so that, in addition to clear air, we have clean water, healthy lives and productive land. This web site is the main portal to obtain information from and about the Air Protection Branch and its different programs.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) is an index for reporting daily air quality. It tells you how clean or polluted your outdoor air is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you. The AQI focuses on health effects you may experience within a few hours or days after breathing polluted air. EPA calculates the AQI for five major air pollutants regulated by the Clean Air Act: ground-level ozone, particle pollution (also known as particulate matter), carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide. For each of these pollutants, EPA has established national air quality standards to protect public health.
