WASHINGTON – The Families of Continental Flight 3407 spent the fourth anniversary of the loss of their loved ones lobbying the Federal Aviation Administration and members of Congress for tougher rules for the nation’s pilots – and in doing so, they found new reason for frustration with the FAA.
When President Obama makes his State of the Union address tonight, Congressman Chris Collins, R-Clarence, wants to hear him talk about jobs, the economy and “the need to live within our means as a country.”
“I want to hear him talk about true bipartisan solutions, not his way or the highway,” Collins said Saturday during an interview at The Livingston County News.

During his second ceremonial swearing-in for the day Saturday, he promised to do what he could to taper federal spending habits, represent all constituents and especially farmers and small business and have a long-term vision.
WASHINGTON – Rep. Chris Collins on Monday won a rare honor for a first-term lawmaker: chairmanship of a House subcommittee.
The Clarence Republican will serve as chairman of the Small Business Committee’s Subcommittee on Healthcare and Technology, which will oversee the implementation of President Obama’s health care law and how it is affecting small businesses.
The One Hundred Thirteenth United States Congress is the next meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It is scheduled to meet in Washington, D.C. from January 3, 2013 to January 3, 2015.
The 113th United States Congress will begin on January 3, 2013. There are at least 12 new senators (3R, 8D, 1I) and 67 new representatives (29R, 38D).
