Brackettville Border Patrol Agents Arrest Wanted Sex Offender

(Thursday, January 31, 2013)

Del Rio, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brackettville station apprehended a convicted sex offender.

On Wednesday, agents assigned to the Brackettville Border Patrol Station encountered Rafael Aguila-Montantes, a 34-year-old undocumented immigrant from Mexico. During processing, agents discovered that Aguila had an active warrant for violation of probation stemming from a sexual assault conviction in January of 1998, from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office in Boerne.

An immigration check revealed that Aguila had been previously deported in 2005. Aguila will be processed for removal from the United States and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
