2010 Census

2010 Census Summary File 1 — This file provides a number of detailed tables from the 2010 Census on age, sex, households, families, relationship to householder, housing units, detailed race and Hispanic or Latino origin groups and group quarters. Most tables are shown down to the block or census tract level. Summary File 1 is the first 2010 Census release to include statistics for ZIP code tabulation areas. Tables cover for states, counties, county subdivisions, places, census tracts, congressional districts for the 111th Congress and, where applicable, American Indian and Alaska Native areas and Hawaiian home lands. Some tables are repeated for nine race and Hispanic or Latino origin groups. The statistics are being released on a state-by-state flow basis for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. (Scheduled for release mid-June through August.)

Demographic

Selected Indicators of Child Well-Being: 2009 — Containing statistics from the Survey of Income and Program Participation, these tables provide a glimpse into how children younger than 18 spend their day. Subjects touched on include the degree of interaction with parents, participation in extracurricular activities and academic experiences. (Scheduled for release in mid-July.)

Economic

Economic Indicators — The Census Bureau releases statistics that provide monthly, quarterly and yearly updates on key measures of the nation's economic condition. Upcoming releases in July include manufacturers' shipment, inventories and orders, monthly wholesale trade: sales and inventories, U.S. international trade in goods and services. Current Industrial Reports (CIRs) — These statistics provide monthly, quarterly and annual measures of industrial activity. The 47 CIRs focus on groups of industries, such as textiles and apparel, chemicals, primary metals, computer and electronic components, industrial equipment and consumer goods and provide current and historical statistics on production and shipments of selected products. CIR statistics are used to satisfy economic policy needs and for market analysis, forecasting and decision-making in the private sector. Facts for Features

Labor Day (Sept. 6) — Labor Day is the yearly national tribute to the workers who have contributed to the well-being of our country. First observed in 1882, this federal holiday for many marks the end of summer. In observance of this holiday for workers, this fact sheet includes an array of demographic statistics about our nation's workforce. (Scheduled for release in July.)

Grandparents Day (Sept. 11) — On this day intended to honor the nation's grandparents, the Census Bureau provides an array of demographic data about the role these caregivers play in the lives of our nation's youth. (Scheduled for release in July.)

Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15) — During this month long observance, our nation celebrates the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. The Census Bureau joins in the celebration with this fact sheet presenting a range of updated data describing the demographic state of the nation's Latino population, including new statistics from the 2010 Census and statistics on Hispanic-owned businesses. (Scheduled for release in July.)

Unmarried and Single Americans Week (Sept. 18-24) — The third full week of September recognizes the nation's unmarried Americans with an array of statistics about this group from the Census Bureau's demographic and economic subject areas. (Scheduled for release in July.)

Profile America and Al Día (Spanish) for July — Upcoming segments include buckling up for safety in "First Seatbelt Law" (July 6) and taking the measure of the public in "First Opinion Poll" (July 24).

2010 Census

How-To Webinar on the New American FactFinder — June 27 — The U.S. Census Bureau held a webinar on Monday, June 27, 2011, at 1 p.m. on the new statistics delivery tool, American FactFinder. This comprehensive 30-minute tutorial demonstrated how to locate, access, manipulate, map and download Summary File 1 for states and other previously released 2010 Census statistics. Living Arrangements of Children: 2009 — June 29 — This report examines the diversity of children's living arrangements in households in the United States and describes extended family households with relatives and nonrelatives where their presence may have an effect on the development and economic well-being of children. International Data Base — June 27 — Which countries are among the top 10 largest in the world today? Which countries will be in the top 10 by 2050? The Census Bureau routinely updates its International Data Base, providing estimates and projections for 228 countries and areas around the world. This release updates information about the size, growth, fertility and net migration for 19 countries. Economic

County Business Patterns: 2009 — June 30 — These statistics provide the only detailed annual information on the number of establishments, employees, and quarterly and annual payroll for most of the 1,100 industries covered at the national, state and county levels. For the first time, this information has expanded to include economic statistics for the four Island Areas — American Samoa, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Finances of Selected State and Local Government Employee Retirement Systems: 1st Quarter 2011 — June 30 — This quarterly survey provides national summary statistics on the revenues, expenditures and composition of assets of the 100 largest state and local public employee retirement systems in the United States. These 100 systems comprise 89.4 percent of financial activity among such entities, based on the 2007 Census of Governments. This survey presents the most current statistics about investment decisions by state and local public employee retirement systems, which are among the largest types of institutional investors in the U.S. financial markets. These statistical tables are published three months after each calendar quarter and show national financial transactions and trends for the past five years. Summary of State and Local Government Tax Revenue 2011 1st Quarter — June 28 — This summary shows quarterly tax revenue statistics on property, sales, license, income and other taxes. Statistics are shown for individual state governments as well as national-level estimates of total state and local taxes, including 12-month calculations.
