ST. LOUIS – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced that active duty service members in the U.S. Armed Forces are now eligible to participate in TSA Pre✓™ at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (STL). TSA Pre✓™ is available in Terminal 1, Checkpoint C.
“Through TSA’s layered approach to security, and to align more closely with International Civil Aviation Organization standards, effective April 25, 2013 TSA will allow knives that do not lock, and have blades that are 2.36 inches or 6 centimeters or less in length and are less than 1/2 inch in width, novelty-sized and toy bats, billiard cues, ski poles, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks and two golf clubs as part of their carry-on baggage.
"As sequestration takes effect, travelers can expect to see lines and wait times increase as reductions to overtime and the inability to backfill positions for attrition begin to occur this month. While wait times can vary on a number of factors, due to the reductions mandated by sequestration, TSA will put in place a hiring freeze, which will result in up to an additional 1,000 TSO vacancies by Memorial Day Weekend and up to 2,600 vacancies by the end of the fiscal year.
"TSA regrets inaccurate guidance was provided to this family during screening and offers its apology. We are committed to maintaining the security of the traveling public and strive to treat all passengers with dignity and respect. While no pat-down was performed, we will address specific concerns with our workforce."
WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced five more airports will offer TSA Pre✓™, bringing the total number of airports participating to 40. By April 1, 2013, eligible passengers flying on participating airlines out of Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS), Cleveland Hopkins International (CLE), Memphis International (MEM), Nashville International (BNA) and Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) airports may receive TSA Pre✓™ benefits.
DENVER – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced that active duty service members in the U.S. Armed Forces are now eligible to participate in TSA Pre✓™ at Denver International Airport (DEN). TSA Pre✓™ is available at the South Checkpoint.
WASHINGTON— The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will support security operations for the 57th Presidential Inaugural, coordinating with federal, state and local agencies to secure transportation systems and protected sites surrounding the event. The U.S. Secret Service has primary responsibility for the coordination of security planning and implementation. In addition, the Transportation Security Administration, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection will provide assets and personnel.

“TSA has strict requirements that all vendors must meet for security effectiveness and efficiency. Due to its inability to deploy non-imaging Automated Target Recognition (ATR) software by the Congressionally-mandated June 2013 deadline, TSA has terminated its contract with Rapiscan.
“By June 2013 travelers will only see machines which have ATR that allow for faster throughput. This means faster lanes for the traveler and enhanced security. As always, use of this technology is optional.”
