USPTO Director David Kappos to Kick Off the National Trademark Expo

Kappos to Address the Importance of Trademarks to the U.S. Economy

WASHINGTON – U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Director David Kappos will kick off the USPTO National Trademark Expo Friday in Alexandria, Va. He will be joined by USPTO’s Commissioner for Trademarks Lynne Beresford.

The National Trademark Expo will feature educational workshops for adults and children, and a story time provided by  local company Hooray for Books. Also on hand for the opening will be 18 exhibitors and a cast of several well-known costumed characters.

This year's collection of costumed trademark characters includes the GEICO's Gecko, the Chick-fil-A Cow, the Idaho Potato Commission’s Spuddy Buddy, and the Pillsbury Doughboy, along with popular cartoon characters Betty Boop, Curious George, Dennis the Menace, Olive Oyl, and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

New Exhibitors include Hillerich & Bradsby (The Louisville Slugger), Chick-fil-A, GEICO Insurance Company and Innovation Ventures (5 Hour Energy), which will display its NASCAR show car.  Returning exhibitors include the Hershey Company, Caterpillar, Inc., and Travelers, among others. The Expo is free, fun and informative for the whole family.
