FTA to Hold Webinars on Capital Investment Program Final Rule & Proposed Policy Guidance

FTA will hold three public webinars to discuss the New Starts final rule published on Jan. 9 in the Federal Register and the accompanying proposed policy guidance. Each will cover the same materials, allowing you to choose the day/time that works best for you. Each webinar is limited to 200, so these are offered on a first-come, first-served basis (no RSVP required). Time will be allotted for Q&A, with questions submitted online for selective discussion. An audio of the webinar and accompanying slides will be available online at www.fta.dot.gov after the last webinar has concluded.

Metro Transit Receives Two Awards for Passenger and Employee Safety

Nextstopstl.org, January 22, 2013, St. Louis – Metro Transit was recently notified it has received special recognition by two separate organizations for its commitment to safety. BUSRide Magazine honored Metro with the 2012 Best of BUSRide Safety Award in recognition of continued efforts to ensure better bus and motor coach safety for passengers and employees and for initiatives in introducing protocols, products and procedures that ensure passenger and employee safety. Metro was also recognized by Transit Safety Solutions in its 2012 Top Bus Technology and Safety Initiative Awards as one of the top agencies committed to higher levels of bus safety, and for proactive safety plans.   You can read the full article here.



Easter Seals Project Action Presents Online Course for New ADA Complementary Paratransit Managers

1/10/13 – National RTAP eNews – Easter Seals Project Action (ESPA) will be running a free online course for new ADA Complementary Paratransit Managers, “Excellence in Service for Paratransit Managers.” The 10-week course includes five learning modules presented in a variety of media. Topics covered include history of the disability movement, engaging the disability community in your area, and fostering a greater understanding of ADA and sensitivity towards people with disabilities. Easter Seals expects the course to take approximately 15 hours per participant, including homework, online discussions, and course activities. MAP-21 FTA web page

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) developed a web page for information and updates on MAP-21 (Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century), the new two-year transportation bill recently passed by Congress. A PowerPoint highlighting MAP-21 programs and a new program funding summary are posted on the site.The web page includes information on FTA’s implementation of MAP-21, guidance for grantees, and a link to sign up for email updates on the topic.  http://fta.dot.gov/map21/
