[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) delivered a statement following passage of H.R. 4348, the Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2012. Durbin served on the conference committee to help craft the final version of the legislation, which provides an increase in funding to Illinois. The legislation runs through fiscal year 2014, and is estimated to create or maintain more than two million jobs, while streamlining federal programs and the approval process for transportation projects.
