A Grumman SA-16 Albatross of the 135 Air Resupply Group, Maryland Air National Guard: most SA-16s in the U.S. Air served as search and rescue aircraft. Several ANG units, however, operated the flying boats in special missions, landing and recovering special operations forces by parachute or rubber boat.

Guatemalan military leaders observe Urban Search and Rescue training at the 188th Fighter Wing July 11 as part of the National Guard's State Partnership Program (SPP). The 65-nation, 20-year-old program provides unique partnership capacity-building capabilities to combatant commanders and U.S. ambassadors through partnerships between U.S. states, territories and the District of Columbia and foreign countries. The SPP supports U.S. national interests and security cooperation goals by engaging partner nations via military, socio-political and economic conduits at the local, state and national level.
