Requirements for Application Submission via E-mail
First and foremost, you must have Adobe Acrobat Professional software, not Adobe Reader, for the following procedures.
Scanning to make a PDF file:
- Open up Adobe Acrobat
- Click on the Create PDF
- Choose "from scanner"
- Select your Scanning Source (i.e. select your scanner)
- Select Recognize Text Using OCR "checkbox"
-- Recognize Text Using OCR - click Settings
--- Primary OCR Language - English (US)
--- PDF Output Style - Searchable Image
--- Downsample Image - Lowest (600 dpi)
-- Uncheck the Add tags to Document
- Click - Scan
- You should always use Text; never use Photo, Web or any other settings.
- Make sure that the Text block is checked
- Resolution: 300x300 dpi
- Scan Type - always Black and White, including photos for jobs requesting personal photos
- Brightness: Needs to be set to -20
- Document Size: Letter 8 1/2x11 in
When sending photos, please save photos as .jpg at 300 x 300 dpi only.
Faxing your information to our office, DSN 278-7270 or commercial (301) 836-7270, will automatically convert all of your information to a PDF file. All packages must be in PDF format for final processing.
If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Professional, you can send all of your information in the order listed on the Application page, by using any Microsoft Office software, i.e. MS Word.
EMAILED APPLICATIONS MUST BE SENT ONE COMPLETE APPLICATION PER EMAIL. We will not put applications together that arrive in separate email. If you cannot send the entire application in one email you must fax your application.
