Charitable Donations Determined By In-Game Item Sales and Concurrent User Numbers
October 30, 2012 – Wargaming America, the exclusive publisher for Wargaming.net, the creator of the award-winning games World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and the upcoming World of Battleships, today announced the details regarding its in-game Veterans Day charitable activities for World of Tanks.
Beginning November 9th at 12:01 AM UTC and running through November 12th at 11:59 PM UTC, Wargaming will donate 20% of proceeds from select in-game Gift Shot packages. Packages included in the promotion include 12,000 gold ($49.99), 1,111,000 credits and 2,012 gold ($19.99) and 3,000 gold ($14.89). These proceeds will go to support the work of notable charities such as Homes For Our Troops, National Military Family Association, Operation Homefront, Paralyzed Veterans of America and AMVETS.
In addition to the in-game sales activities, beginning November 16th and running through November 18th, Wargaming will also be holding multiple tier tournaments, culminating in a grand final tournament for cash prizes. The cash prize for the tournaments will be based on the total number of participants in the tournament itself, plus the peak concurrent user total on the North American server for the month of November. So, the more players that sign up, the higher the prize will be. As further incentive to players, Wargaming will also make a donation to the aforementioned charities, with the total amount determined by the peak concurrent users on the North American server during the month of November.
All three tournaments will take place simultaneously to prevent players from taking part in multiple tournaments. All tournaments (one each for Tier 8, Tier 6 and Tier 4 players) will feature a 5-versus-5 format and will award cash and gold depending on standing and Tier of the tournament. The minimum cash pool for Tier 8 will be $24,000, $6,000 for Tier 6, and in-game gold for Tier 4. Registration for the tournaments must be completed by November 14th, with group play taking place on November 16th, playoffs on November 17th and the grand finals and third place match culminating on November 19th. Earlier this year Wargaming conducted similar in-game event during National Military Month, donating $61,000 to AMVETS, $60,000 to Military Families Fund, $51,000 to Homes For Our Troops and $52,000 to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
