Visa Fees
Non-immigrant visa applicants are required to pay an MRV fee unless exempt from the fee requirement.
The MRV Fee Schedule is tiered as follows:
- Petition Based Visas (H, L, O, P, Q, R) - $190 or NOK 1130;
- E-1, E-2 & E-3 Visa Applicants - $270 or NOK 1600.
- All other non-immgrant visas - $160 or NOK 950;
(including student and tourist visas)
The fees in Norwegian kroner are subject to frequent change due to changing exchange rates. We advise applicants to check our website for updates before their interviews.
The visa fee needs to be paid in cash when the applicant comes to the embassy for their interview, and we recommend that applicants bring in exact change. The Visa Section accepts US dollars and Norwegian kroner. The fee cannot be paid by credit card, bank card or by personal check.
Applicants who are allowed to submit their visa applications by mail (Children under the age of 14, applicants over the age of 79 and E-visa applicants) must pay the application fee by a bank remisse issued in Norwegian kroner.
The visa application fee is non-refundable.
Issuance Fees
Nationals of certain countries are required to pay an issuance fee in order for an approved visa to be issued. Fees are based on reciprocity and reflect the charges levied by the applicant's government to a U.S. citizen for a similar service.
Those applying for visas in person will be advised whether or not an issuance fee is required at the time of their interview. Issuance fees are paid to the Embassy cashier. Fees may be paid in cash - dollars or Norwegian kroners, or by Credit Card - Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, Discover or American Express or Debit Card. The Embassy does not accept any other credit or debit cards, or personal checks.
Additional fees
- L-1 Blanket L- $500 or NOK 2970 which can be paid by cash or credit card.
On August 13, 2010, President Obama signed Public Law 111-230, which contains provisions to increase certain L-1 petition fees. The fee was implemented on November 23rd, 2010. The additional fee applies to L-1 petitioners that employ 50 or more employees in the United States with more than 50 percent of their employees in the United States in L-1A or L-1B nonimmigrant status. The petitioner is responsible for informing the Visa Section that payment of the fee is mandatory for their applicants. Applicants must pay the fee before a visa can be issued.
- L1- Blanket Border Security Fee - $ 2250 or NOK 13660.
These fees only need to be paid by the primary applicants.
