Washington, DC, Jan 2 - U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) today released a final report on the work of the committee in the 112^th Congress. This is the eighth quarterly report Upton has released to colleagues and the House GOP leadership, and one of several new initiatives undertaken by the committee to increase transparency and ensure the public has easy access to the panel’s work.

“Our record in the 112th Congress is an impressive one. Bills signed into law. Many more advanced through the House. Investigations that uncovered waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayers’ dollars. And innovative new ways of interacting with the American people,” wrote Upton.

The fourth quarter report provides a comprehensive look at accomplishments and milestones of the committee over the past two years. Among the topics covered are launch of the new Energy and Commerce Committee website, establishment of The Policy Paper Series to more deeply examine key issues before the committee, and the use of forums to engage stakeholders and the American people in the committee’s work.

The report provides highlights of the work done by each of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s six subcommittees throughout the 112^th Congress, outlines key statistics about the committee’s hearing, markup, and legislative record, and provides a comprehensive list of committee legislation approved by the House as well as those bills signed into law. Finally, the report provides links and brief summaries of the previous quarterly reports, providing a one-stop-shop for all of these updates on the panel’s work throughout 2011 and 2012.
