Management Intern Program (MI)

MI logoAbout the Management Intern Program

The NIH Management Intern (MI) Program was established in 1957. Since its inception, the Management Intern Program has offered key resources, targeted training, and hands-on experience to motivated NIH employees interested in pursuing a career in administration and management. Each year, this highly competitive program offers a few outstanding NIH employees the two-year opportunity to rotate through different administrative career fields, gain invaluable insight into the NIH, and position themselves as future leaders.

Graduates have become some of NIH's most respected administrative managers, including Executive Officers, Administrative Officers, Grants Management Officers, Budget Officers, Public Affairs Specialists, Contracting Officers, and Program and Management Analysts.

This is a Program that has a 50-plus-year history of developing leaders!

Benefits of participation include access to a senior-level mentor, an individual training budget, an opportunity to participate in challenging projects and committees, and face-to-face interactions with NIH leaders. It is no wonder that this program has such a rich history in developing future administrative professionals and leaders. If you are eligible and have what it takes for this challenging program, apply and unlock a new career path!  Learn how by attending any of the information sessions hosted by the MI Program throughout the month of March.
