Mission Director's Welcome

Welcome to USAID/Central Asian Republics’ new website. I am delighted to show you what USAID is doing in this corner of the world and I want to encourage you to take a look around the pages devoted to the four countries where we work: Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. USAID/Kyrgyzstan’s website is also new and covers all USAID is doing in Kyrgyzstan.

As Mission Director for USAID/Central Asian Republics, I’m proud of what USAID has achieved across this region since we first began working here nearly 20 years ago. From halting the worst polio outbreak in decades, to establishing our unique partnership for economic development with Kazakhstan, we have been busy helping to improve the lives of people across Central Asia. But don’t take my word for it – take a minute and peruse the “telling our story” pages that describe some of the impact we’ve made in people’s lives.

Central Asia is a fascinating and colorful region: bordered by Russia, China, Iran and Afghanistan, and the site of the famous Silk Road, Central Asia has much to offer development professionals and history buffs alike. Whether you are here to look at our development program, or simply to learn more about our Mission, I recommend you look through our photo galleries and browse the website.
