Lene Espersen was born on 26 September 1965 in Hirtshals, North Jutland, and is the daughter of Shipowner Ole Peter Espersen and Bookkeeper Inger Tanggaard Espersen.
MSc (economics) 1990 from Aarhus University.

Candidate for the Conservative Party in the Ringkjøbing Constituency from 1993 and the Sæby Constituency from 1994.
Member of the Parliament from 21 September 1994. General Policy Spokesperson and member of the Parliamentary Conservative Party Leadership from 1999.

Lene Espersen is married to Danny Feltmann Espersen and the couple has two sons (Marcus 2001, and Robert 2003)
