This Herc has some moves
The 440th Airlift Wing supports the Milwaukee airshow by dropping a three-member Navy Leap Frog team. The Frogs hit their target on Brady Beach just North of the grand stands. For the second half of the show, the C-130 did several more passes showing off its capabilities and tight turns. The 440th Airlift Wing was formally based in Milwaukee until it relocated in 2007 to Pope Field, N.C. The wing still has strong ties to Milwaukee as about 50 Reservists from southeast Wisconsin belong to the wing (U.S. Air Force Photo by Master Sgt. Steve Staedler)

C130 arrives at Pope for new mission
A new aircraft arrived May 6 to Pope Field, N.C., but it didn’t land on either runway 5 or 23. Rather, it arrived secured to the back of a tractor trailer, minus a few noticeable parts such as its tail, engines and wings, but still ready to go to work. (U.S. Air Force photo by Maj. Lisa Reaver)

Reaching Perfection
Tech. Sergeants Abner Berrios (left) and Alan Hunter, crew chiefs with the 440th Airlift Wing Maintenance Group, proudly display their letter perfect “black letter initial” aircraft checklists. In an effort to set a positive example for the unit’s newer crew chiefs and members, the two used their professional rivalry to try to out-work and out-inspect each other. The end result was the rarity of both crew chiefs obtaining a discrepency free checklist. ( U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Peter Miller)

The 440th Airlift Wing Commander Colonel Merle Hart, a navigator by trade, takes the pilots seat as he tries out a C-130 simulator that was being guided by Boeing system engineer Frank Sharkany, at Pope Air Force Base, N.C., November 13, 2009. Representatives from Boeing brought the simulator to Pope AFB so that pilots here could have a chance to become familiar with the new technology. The simulator is a result of the C-130 Avionics Modernization Program by Boeing. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Jacqueline Pender)
