Research Team Experiences
The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) brings together mentors and research teams to serve as a bridge between the classroom and the profession.
ORISE recognizes the important role these relationships can play in professional development of new scientists and engineers. Our programs formally connect research participants with senior-level researchers who can help scientists make the most of their careers. Both participants and mentors benefit from broadening the collegial research experience.

Joe Lake
Joe Lake, a former research participant and now a full-time software engineer for Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Computational Science and Engineering Division, is giving back by mentoring the next generation of scientists.

Jonathan Mbah and Kiara Moorer, both of Tuskegee University, conducted research at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez as part of the U.S. Deptartment of Homeland Security's 2012 Summer Research Team Program for Minority Serving Institutions.
