| HONOLULU - For a special group of runners participating in the Great Aloha Run on Monday, February 18 (President’s Day) every step is laced with memories and honors those who have paid the ultimate price in service to country. Many of the runners are family members of our fallen military heroes. The funds raised by the runners will help the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), the national organization that has provided comfort and care to more than 35,000 people grieving the deaths of America’s fallen military heroes and caregivers assisting them since 1994. WASHINGTON – Less than one percent of Americans today serve in the military, but anyone can express their gratitude and support for our nation’s fallen heroes by donating to help the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and its work to help the grieving families left behind by America’s fallen military heroes.
“Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to remember the love we share with those we hold precious in our hearts. For so many families who have lost a loved one in the military, every day without their hero is painful. Valentine’s Day is time to remember the service and sacrifices made by these American heroes and support the families they have left behind,” said Bonnie Carroll, TAPS founder and military widow.
