National Officer Safety and Wellness Group - Photo Gallery

The first meeting of the national Officer Safety and Wellness Group was held on September 22, 2011, with more than 40 participants representing the COPS Office; BJA; other Department of Justice and federal agencies; federal, and local law enforcement; national associations; unions; and researchers. The group examined the problems and challenges of ensuring officer safety and wellness, prioritized future issues based on work from the planning meeting, and focused on deaths and injuries related to gunfire. The second national Officer Safety and Wellness Group meeting was held on January 26, 2012 to address the first priority of the Group – officer deaths and injuries from gunfire. The meeting was structured to provide the participants with additional insight on gunfire deaths and injuries through presentations on the research and two case studies from agencies that had lost officers in gunfire incidents.
