III CORPS & FORT HOOD TROOP SCHOOL

Mission Statement:
To support the Army Force Generation by supplementing MOS and unit training to increase the combat readiness of III Corps units

Goals:

  • Supplement MOS and Unit training by providing enhancement or sustainment training to soldiers, leaders, and trainers.
  • Sustainment training in low density MOSs to include cross training personnel for other functions and expanding or refining skills necessary for mission essential task completion.
  • Provide sustainment training on new equipment and systems.
  • Develop and provide course instruction to alleviate training needs identified by Commander, III Corps or as identified during command inspections.
  • All class seat allocations are based on input by the MSCs to the Annual Needs Assessment Survey. Survey must be conducted down to company/troop level
  • Annual Needs assessment establishes the need for each class.

Courses Descriptions:

Standard Army Maintenance Systems 1 Enhanced (SAMS1-E) Manager’s Course (Motor Pool Management)
Designed for leaders, the SAMS1-E Manager’s course provides the basic knowledge and skills for Motor Pool Operations and management. Course includes training in duties, responsibilities and procedures to conduct and manage a unit maintenance program, use of the automated Standard Army Maintenance System-Enhanced (SAMS1-E) program, shop operations, supply and safety procedures. Course completion provides SAMS-E Certification for Battalion and Company Maintenance Officers/Technicians, Motor Sergeants and Company level executive officers.

Standard Army Maintenance Systems 1 Enhanced (SAMS1 E) Operator Course
Provide sustainment training in duties, and responsibilities for a SAMS-E clerk. Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to operate the SAMS-1E software to perform duties as a supply clerk. This will include supply procedures and the work order process. Clerks will also learn Equipment Dispatching and Readiness Process procedures. Students will take the III Corps SAMS-E certification test at course completion.

Generator Operator Course
Provides sustainment training to personnel operating and maintaining power generator equipment at the unit and battalion level. Operator training in safety, (includes HAZMAT Awareness training), PMCS, services, forms, records, and operational procedures. Emphasis is placed on safety, troubleshooting, PMCS, and maintenance techniques on a variety of field generating equipment.

Fuel Handler Course
Provide unit commanders with trained and qualified fuel handlers as required by Fort Hood Regulation 703-2. Provides training in safety procedures (includes HAZMAT Awareness training), accountability, handling procedures, operations and PMCS for all fuel dispensing equipment, storage and disposition of POL products, and state and local EPA requirements. Provides necessary augmentation training for MOS 92F after AIT completion. Certifies training by issuing DD Form 1902.

Unit Supply Enhanced (USE) Unit Supply Clerk Course (USE-USC)
Provides sustainment training for unit personnel (92Y) or other personnel filling a Unit Supply Clerk position. Course includes training on duties, reponsibilities and procedures for operating and maintaining a unit supply activity, manual supply procedures and the automated system for PBUSE. Provide required USE certification

Unit Supply Enhanced (USE) Unit Supply Operations & Management Course (USE-USOM)
Provides Sustainment training in unit supply operations and management to supervisor unit supply personnel. Course includes training on duties, management procedures and responsibilities of the unit supply sergeant and unit supply officer. Provides required USE certification.

Unit Armorer Course
Provides sustainment training to enlisted personnel in operation and management of the unit arms room. Trains selected personnel to operate and manage a unit arms room, maintenance of weapons, night vision devices, physical security, and required forms and reports.

Digital Training Management System (DTMS) Course
Provides sustainment training in the use of DTMS as the Army’s primary training management tool. DTMS replaces all other Training management systems. DTMS is web based Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software tied to a relational database, customized IAW FMs 7-0/7-1. Optimized for use at Brigade and below, DTMS provides the ability to plan, resource and manage unit and individual training at all levels.

Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Course
Provides training for officers and enlisted soldiers as unit level CBRN officer or NCO. Includes proper use of CBRN equipment, maintaining the equipment, and CBRN training responsibilities. 74Ds who assume unit chemical NCO duties (one 54B authorized/company) and who are not BNCOC graduates are required to attend.

Unit Movement Officer Course
Provides regulatory guidance, unit procedures, duties and responsibilities as UMOs/NCO. Course contains all training required to perform Unit Movement Officer/NCO duties to include the total deployment process, unit movement plans and books, unit loads, HAZMAT awareness, and rail certification.

Master Drivers Course
Provides regulatory guidance, unit procedures, duties and responsibilities of a Master Driver. Demonstrates establishing and conducting a drivers training program. Students will receive hands-on SAMS-E training in Operator Records and Equipment Class Codes.

Commander’s Total Fitness Course
Provides regulatory guidance and procedures for Soldiers designated as Commander’s Total Fitness Leaders. Instruction includes the establishment of a unit total fitness program, weight control, managing profiles, and training/testing requirements. Course is ACTIVE participation training in new doctrine established by USAPFS.

Automated Air Load Planning System Course
Provides training to selected personnel for the proper use of the Automated Airload Planning System (AALPS) hardware and software. Prepares unit movement personnel for air deployments. All instructors are school trained by AALPS PM.

Repair and Utilities Course (R&U)
Trains soldiers to perform duties as Repair and Utilities (R&U) NCO. Course is hands-on repair of electrical, plumbing, drywall, and window screens.

Technical Transport of Hazardous Materials (AMMO-62)
ATRRS course conducted by personnel from DAC. Prepares Officers, NCOs and DA Civilians in all phases of transporting hazardous materials to include load certification for transport by any mode. Provides HAZMAT two year certification.

Ammunition Awareness
Provides training to unit-level ammunition handlers on proper ammunition accountability procedures, transportation security requirements for Category I, II, III, and IV ammunition, and requirements for live ammunition and residue turn-in. Trains personnel to safely receive, recognize, transport, and issue various classes of ammunition in support of range operations. Provides DD 1902.

Combat Lifesaver Course
This course includes the Tactical Combat Casualty Care lessons learned from Afghanistan and Iraq that enable a non-medical soldier to provide lifesaving measures and intervention skills to adequately preserve life and limb in a combat environment prior to the arrival of medical personnel.

Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B)
This course prepares students for National Registry certification. The course length is a minimum 110 hours. In addition to the required 110 hours of instruction, students must complete a minimum of five patient encounters in a clinical setting. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the National Registry EMT-B exam for certification. All 91Ws still requiring NREMT-B certification may attend this course.

Emergency Medical Technician-Refresher Course
Satisfies the Refresher Training requirement set forth by the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) recertification purposes. Re-Entry Due to Lapsed Certification: For 68W/91Ws that hold current state EMT-B certification or have allowed National Registry EMT-B certification to lapse within the past 24 months, successful completion of an approved EMT-B Refresher course will lead to eligibility to take the National Registry EMT-B exam for recertification.

Property Book Enhanced (PBE)
Provides training on the Property Book Enhance web based system that replaced SPBS-R. Course includes training on real time property accountability, LOGTAADS updates, serial number tracking, asset adjustments, lateral transfers, hand receipts and many other logistical procedures.

Battle Staff NCO Course
ATRRS Distant Learning course, Phase I and II. Facilitated by Troop School, originated from USASMA.

First Sergeants Course
ATRRS Distant Learning course, Phase I and II. Facilitated by Troop School, originated from USASMA. Successful completion provides basis for award of SQI “M” IAW AR 611-201

Transportation Coordinators'-Automated Information for Movements System II (TC-AIMS II)
Provides sustainment training on a deployment and transportation system that provides transportations agent and deploying units a joint capability to automate the processes of planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling deployment and sustainment activities worldwide.

Airload Planner Courses (ALPC)
Provides academic instruction combined with hands-on equipment preparation to train unit movement personnel to prepare, load an tie down unit equipment on airlift aircraft. It provides basic weight and balance procedures, center of balance calculation, aircraft and flight line safety, aircraft characteristics, load planning and manifest documentation requirements.

Hazardous Materials Endorsement (HME)
Provide two years certification for vehicle operators transporting hazardous materials IAW AR 600-55 and Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

Standard Army Maintenance System 1-E (SAMS1-E)
Provides sustainment training to all personnel utilizing SAMS 1-E that do not work in the motor pool. Training will include all aspects of SAMS in the following areas: Supply, Maintenance, Equipment, Reports, System Utilities, Interfaces, Tutorials and Ad Hoc queries.

Standard Army Maintenance System 2-E (SAMS2-E)
Provides sustainment training for personnel utilizing the SAMS 2-E automation system for management. Training will include all forty reports in six submenus and use of interface and ad hoc query results.

SUMMARY
III Corps and Fort Hood Troop School is dedicated to training Soldiers. All instructors are military retirees or combat veterans that are committed to providing the best possible training to the United States Army's finest resource, our Soldiers.
