2nd Infantry Division Soldier saves Korean life
CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – A 2nd Infantry Division Soldier pulled a Korean man from a car that caught fire on Highway 61/Bundang Expressway Jan. 11, 2013.
Sgt. 1st Class David George, from Seattle and a Blackhawk helicopter crew chief with 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2nd Inf. Div., was driving home when he noticed a vehicle had crashed into a tree off the road.
The passenger of the crashed car was trying to unsuccessfully pull the driver out of the vehicle. George handed the passenger his phone to call for emergency services while George assisted the driver. Moments before the car burst into flames, George pulled the driver to safety.
“Luckily I was there,” said George. “I am glad to be able to have assisted.”
George also stated that he didn’t do anything that anyone else would have done.
"This doesn't surprise me at all," said his 1st Sgt. Jason C. Brown. "It's very
typical of Sergeant First Class George to assist those in need on or off duty without hesitation."

캠프 험프리, 대한민국 – 한 미2사단 장병이 2013년 1월 11일 국도61번 분당선에서 불이난 자동차에서 한국인 한 명을 끌어냈다.
시애틀 출신인 미2사단 제2항공여단 블랙호크 헬기 팀장 데이빗 죠지 하사는 귀가중에 길밖으로 벗어나 나무에 충돌한 자동차를 목격했다.
동승자는 운전자를 차량밖으로 끌어내지 못하고 있었다. 죠지 하사는 운전자를 도와 주는 와중에 자신의 전화기를 동승자에게 건네 응급 구조차에 신고를 하도록 하였다.
차량에 화재가 일어나기전, 죠지 하사는 운전자를 안전하게 차에서 끌어내었다.
죠지 하사는 “운좋게 제가 현장에 있었다,” 며 “도움을 줄 수 있어서 기뻤다” 고 말했다.
죠지 하사는 누구나 할 수 있었던 일을 했을 뿐이라고 덧붙였다.
제이슨 브라운 상사는 “이번 일은 제게 크게 놀랄 만한 일은 아니다,” 며 “죠지 하사가 공무나 비공무시 도움이 필요한 사람에게 지원을 머뭇거리지 않는다는 것은 아주 전형적인 일이다” 고 말했다.
