Sens. Toomey And Manchin Pledge To Work Together On Energy Issues

Senators Discuss Bipartisan All-of-the-Above Approach to Energy Independence

Thursday, Feb 14

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senators Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today pledged to work together on regional energy issues after participating today in the Jones Day Energy Conference in Pittsburgh. The senators discussed how to rev up the region's economic energy engine.

The conference brought together leaders from Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio to discuss how the region can create jobs, take control of our energy's future, and boost the economy now and for future generations.

"This region was the birthplace of the modern energy movement and it is poised to be the epicenter of its future," Sen. Toomey said. "In a Congress plagued by divisions, Sen. Manchin and I are committed to working together to grow this great opportunity."

"It is so encouraging to participate in events like the Jones Day Energy Conference that focus on our future success," Sen. Manchin said. "At a time when our country faces grave economic and financial challenges, it is in our best interest to work in a bipartisan manner to find commonsense solutions to help solve our country's problems. It was a pleasure attending the conference with my friend Sen. Toomey, who is dedicated to creating jobs, growing our nation's energy supply and boosting the economy in our region."

The Jones Day Energy Conference focused on how West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio can introduce new companies to the region, increase investments from small businesses, create new manufacturing jobs, achieve national energy independence, fund infrastructure projects, and provide opportunities to improve the region's economy.
