Education
  • B.S. Physical Oceanography, Ocean University of Qingdao, China (1992)
  • Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography, Department of Oceanography, Texas A&M University (2002)

Research Interests
  • Seasonal to interannual prediction of ocean states
  • Development and implement of data assimilation schemes (Kalman filter)
  • Numerical modeling of ocean dynamics and thermodynamics: global and marginal seas
  • Analysis of observational and numerical data
  • Blending of in-situ measurements from multiple instruments: ADCP, CTD, etc.

Projects

ECCO Icon ECCO
The "Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean" (ECCO) project produces sustained estimates of the complete global three-dimensional state of the ocean by assimilating observations with ocean circulation models.
