Ambassador Susman's message to mark the beginning of Ramadan

Ambassador Susman's message to mark the beginning of Ramadan

Ambassador Susman: On behalf of the United States government, I extend friendship and respect to our Muslim friends as the sacred month of Ramadan begins.

It's a time of festivity and family; of charity and compassion.

A time to reflect on God’s many blessings and the freedom we enjoy here and in America to practice our chosen religion.

It’s also a time for contemplation of those values shared by all faiths: tolerance, devotion and consideration for human dignity.

Under President Obama, the United States has embarked on a new beginning with Muslims everywhere.

This involves listening to each other and learning from each other.

That’s why this Embassy is reaching out to more Muslim communities than ever before as we seek to build greater trust and understanding.

To all who follow the faith of Islam: may God’s peace be with you and your families this Ramadan - and may he grant you health and prosperity.

Ramadan Kareem.
