WBAMC offers a wide variety of medical services at the following Soldier and Family Medical Clinics

Spc. Hugo V. Mendoza Soldier Family Care Center, Bldg 11335. This clinic is located on East Fort Bliss on SSG Sims Street, next to the new Dental Clinic. You take SGM Blvd. and turn left onto SSG Sims Street, the building is located on your left.

Soldier Family Medical Clinic (SFMC), Bldg 2496. This clinic is located on Fort Bliss. Enter through Cassidy Gate. Go straight. Turn right on Ricker Road. The clinic is next to the old base theater.

Community Healh Clinic

The Community Health Clinic is located on the north side of the Soldier and Family Medical Clinic, Fort Bliss. Clients may self refer or be referred by their health care provider.

Services offered through the Community Health Clinic include:

  • Tuberculosis Control and Prevention
  • Cholesterol Testing and Counseling
  • Wellness Centers
  • Pregnancy Fitness Programs and Workshops
  • Health Promotion counseling, workshops, and classes
  • Health Fairs and Special (Health) Event coordination
  • Health related home visits and evaluations
  • Military childcare health consulting, inspections, and teaching.
  • Put Prevention Into Practice (PPIP) coordination and advocacy
  • Community health assessments and program planning

Emergencies

Emergencies occurring after 3:45 PM or on weekends or holidays are seen in the Emergency Room at WBAMC. Patients will be evaluated and if the problem is determined to be non-emergent, the patient will be instructed to return to the SFMC Sick Call the next duty day.

Laboratory Services

Laboratory services are available from 7:00 AM – 12 Noon and 1:00 – 4:00 PM daily for blood collection. No blood is drawn after 3:00 PM except for emergencies.

Optometry Services

Optometry hours are 7:00 – 11:45 AM and 1:00 – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Appointments are made by calling (915) 742-0753. Optical inserts are ordered at this clinic following an eye exam unless a recent (less than one year old) prescription is presented.

Pharmacy Services

The SFMC Pharmacy processes new prescriptions and also provides OTC’s for the Self-Care program offered by the Wellness Center. Refills from other military facilities will be honored and transferred only if the prescription is current and the medication is available. The SFMC stocks most commonly prescribed medications, but not the full WBAMC formulary. If a medication is temporarily out of stock (TOS) your prescription will be processed with a label that will allow it to be filled at the Main Pharmacy at WBAMC, or you may return with the label in 1 to 2 days to have it filled.

  1. Refills are called into the automated refill system (915-742-1200) and picked up at either Freedom Crossing Pharmacy or Main Outpatient Pharmacy.

Immunization Clinic

Immunization Clinic operates on a walk-in basis for active duty soldiers Monday through Friday from 0800-1100 and 1300-1500 except Thursday when the clinic closes at 11:30 AM. Medical records and yellow shot records are required to receive immunizations. Clearing is done during normal clinic hours.

Sick Call

Military sick call for minor acute medical problems is held from 7:00 - 8:00 AM (sign-in) Monday through Friday. Soldiers will report with a DD 689 (Individual Sick Slip) or other documentation signed by the commander or first sergeant (or representative). Soldiers that report without a sick slip will be returned to their units without being seen unless they are acutely ill as determined by the medical triage officer.

Hearing Conservation Services

Hearing Conservation is open from 7:15 AM &ndash 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Hearing tests for physical exams and individual referrals are done on a walk-in basis from 7:15 – 9:00 AM. Unit testing is scheduled from 9:00 – 11:00 AM and 1:00 – 4:00 PM daily.

Soldiers with chronic, recurrent medical problems should be seen by appointment only (call 915 742-2524). Soldiers who are late will be evaluated by triage officer, and if the condition is not an emergency, the soldier will be offered an appointment the next available duty day as determined by the triage officer.

Soldiers with acute illnesses after SFMC sick call hours should report to the SFMC for evaluation.
