SUBJECT:   Changes to Collaborative Convective Forecast

Product (CCFP) valid times effective March 1, 2013

NOTE:      The following changes have no impact on NOAA Weather

           Wire Service subscribers.

Effective March 1, 2013, 0800 Coordinated Universal Time

(UTC), the NWS Aviation Weather Center (AWC) in Kansas City,

MO, will adjust the valid times of the Collaborative

Convective Forecast Product. On March 1, 2013 CCFP will change

from the current valid times of 2 hours, 4 hours, and 6 hours

from issuance time, to 4 hours, 6 hours, and 8 hours from

issuance time.

The Collaborative Convective Forecast Product (CCFP) is a

forecast of expected convective weather at 4-, 6-, and 8-hours

after issuance time, produced through a collaborative process

involving NWS meteorologists at the AWC and Center Weather

Service Units, and airline industry meteorologists.  It is

issued every 2 hours. The CCFP exists as direct support to the

strategic, system-wide planning of FAA Traffic Flow Management

intended to reduce traffic flow disruptions that may be caused

by convective weather. The CCFP begins March 1 and runs

through October 31 each year, covering the conterminous

48 United States and adjacent coastal waters.

CCFP is issued as three separate ASCII text files under

distinct World Meteorological Organization (WMO) headers.

Current issued CCFP WMO Headers:

FAUS27 KKCI 2 Hour Forecast

FAUS28 KKCI 4 Hour Forecast

FAUS29 KKCI 6 Hour Forecast

On March 1, 2013, NWS will cease issuance of the FAUS27 KKCI 2

hour forecast, and begin issuance of the FAUS30 KKCI 8 hour

forecast. NWS will continue the FAUS28 KKCI 4 Hour Forecast

and FAUS29 KKCI 6 Hour Forecast.

Effective March 1, 2013 issued CCFP WMO Headers:

FAUS28 KKCI 4 Hour Forecast

FAUS29 KKCI 6 Hour Forecast

FAUS30 KKCI 8 hour Forecast
