Interview
What to expect the day of your interview
- The Embassy is located at Paseo de la Reforma 305, Col. Cuauhtemoc, Mexico D.F. Upon arrival, please proceed to the Rio Danubio entrance for further instruction. If your interview is scheduled for Ciudad Juarez, address info here.
- Do not arrive at the Embassy before 6:00 a.m. or more than 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment. Your place in line will not be determined by the order in which you arrive.
- All immigrant visa applicants, regardless of age, should appear in person for their interview.
- Do not bring any family members or other people into the Consulate. Only those applying for visas may be allowed in. Exceptions are made for those needing physical assistance.
- Bring your appointment letter, application receipts, valid passport, and other required documents.
- Do not bring any prohibited items.
- You will pass through the security checkpoint and a small ticket number will be attached to your confirmation page. You will be directed to the appropriate waiting area or check-in window.
- The Embassy processes thousands of nonimmigrant visa applications and a significant number of immigrant visa applications every day. Although every effort is made to minimize wait time, applicants may experience delays at the Embassy.
- Watch the display screens for your ticket number. To the right of your ticket number is your interview window number. When your ticket number displays, go to the window number indicated.
- Occasionally, applicants are called by name. Please listen to all announcements over the loudspeakers.
- Give the Consular Officer your confirmation page, receipts, previous visa if you have one, passport and any other information the Consular Officer requests.
- You will be asked to place one finger on a small scanner screen. The Officer will tell you which finger to use.
- Your other visas or border crossing cards will not be returned to you, even if they are still valid.
- No assurance can be given in advance that a visa will be issued. The applicant is advised NOT to make travel arrangements, dispose of property, or give up employment until the visa has been issued. Please note that the US$400 fee paid in advance to the National Visa Center (NVC) is nonrefundable, regardless of the outcome of the interview.
- Once applicants qualify for an immigrant visa, they may pick up their visa at the DHL office they selected when they scheduled their ASC appointment. Click here for further instructions.
