Student Career Experience Program

The Student Career Experience Program is an Office of Personnel Management Cooperative Education Program that provides work experience which is directly related to the student's academic program and career goals. Students in the SCEP may be non-competitively converted to permanent positions within the Office of the Inspector General following completion of their academic and work experience requirements.


Students work flexible semester or year round schedules. Students in the SCEP will engage in public service while enhancing their educational goals and shaping their career choices.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The student may help conduct internal and external audits and investigations of HUD programs and activities. External entities could include local governments, housing authorities, mortgage companies, privately owned multifamily complexes and nonprofit organizations.


Students will be afforded challenging and varied assignments as they analyze problems and communicate solutions. Travel may be required when not attending classes.

LOCATIONS

There are locations available throughout the country. Students can participate in the program while attending school at local OIG offices or can work full time while taking a semester away from school.


Travel expenses for students traveling to and from the selected site to participate in this program will be reimbursed by the Office of the Inspector General.


Students will be responsible for housing and subsistence costs while working at their selected site.
