Command Sergeant Major Stephan Frennier enlisted in the U.S. Army as an 11H Anti-Armor Infantryman from Fort Ord California on 8 October 1980. He has served as an Anti-Armor Infantryman Gunner and Squad Leader in the 1st Battalion 26th Infantry at Goeppingen Germany; Section Sergeant in 3rd Battalion 7th Infantry at Fort Benning GA; Army Recruiter in the Dallas Recruiting Battalion at Tyler Texas; 11M Infantry Platoon Sergeant and Support Platoon Sergeant in 1st Battalion 30th Infantry at Erlangen Germany; Mechanized Platoon trainer on the Cobra Team, Operations Group at Fort Irwin California; First Sergeant D Co 1st Battalion 22nd Infantry and HHC 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood Texas; Battalion Operations Sergeant 2nd Battalion 9th Infantry at Camp Casey Korea; First Sergeant A Co 2nd Battalion 7th Cavalry at Fort Hood Texas; Brigade Operations Sergeant Major of 3rd Brigade 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood; Battalion Command Sergeant Major 1st Battalion 5th Cavalry at Fort Hood Texas and Baghdad Iraq; Brigade Command Sergeant Major 4th Brigade Combat Team 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Bliss Texas and Mosul Iraq; in 2008 he was selected as the 16th Command Sergeant Major of the United States Army Recruiting Command; prior to arriving at ARCENT he served as the Command Sergeant Major for the United States Forces-Iraq DCG (Advising and Training) in Baghdad Iraq.

His military education includes the Primary, Basic, and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Courses, Recruiter Course, Recruiting Station Commander Course, First Sergeant Course, Army Force Management Course, the Sergeant's Major Course, and the Command Sergeant Major Course.

Some of his military decorations include the Legion of Merit 2nd Award, Bronze Star Medal 3rd Award, Meritorious Service Medal 6th Award, Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Army Achievement Medal 10th Award, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award 2nd Award, Army Good Conduct Medal 10th Award, Korea Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with 4 Campaign Stars, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 6, Expert Infantryman Badge, and Combat Infantryman Badge.

He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2011 from Amridge University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Communication.

Command Sergeant Major Frennier is married to his wife Carol.
