ANF Building Dedication Ceremony ANF Building Dedication Ceremony ANF Building Dedication Ceremony ANF Building Dedication Ceremony

Hundreds of people turned out for two local Forest Service dedications held recently. The biggest was a dedication, ribbon-cutting and open house at the new Angeles National Forest Supervisor's Office in Arcadia. A color guard raised a flag that had been flown in Washington D.C. and both Tom Contreras, forest supervisor; and Randy Moore, regional forester, cut the green ribbon at the building entrance. Visitors were then led on tours of the facility.

A ceremony was also held at the San Dimas Technology and Development Center, for its new photovoltaic solar-panel system, which will produce energy beyond the center's needs. The extra power will enter the local electrical grid, creating a credit that is expected to pay for the electrical costs of the Supervisor's Office. The center is known as a "net zero" facility, the first in the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Angeles National Forest offers natural environments, spectacular scenery, developed campgrounds and picnic areas, swimming, fishing, skiing and the solitude of quiet wilderness areas. Trails winding throughout the forest accommodate hikers, equestrians, mountain bikers and off-highway vehicle enthusiasts. Please visit our recreational activities page for more information.

Many of the facilities and services in the Angeles National Forest are free. Some areas and facilities in the Angeles, as well as in the other national forests of Southern California, require the Adventure Pass or other recreation fees to help maintain, manage and improve the amenities that forest visitors enjoy.  To learn if fees are required at the area or facility you plan to visit, please consult the Recreation Fee Areas map (8MB) or contact the Forest Service office nearest your destination.
