Col., U.S. Army, Commander, DLA Central

Army Col. Mark McCormick assumed command of Defense Logistics Agency Central on July 20, 2012.

He is a native of Greencastle, Pa., and was commissioned in 1986 in the Infantry through ROTC at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Bachelor of Science in business administration.

His military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Transportation Officer Advanced Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College. He also holds a Master of Arts in human resources development from Webster University, Saint Louis, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College, Carlisle, Pa.

His previous commands include: Army Logistics University, Fort Lee, Va.;  25th Transportation Battalion (Movement Control), 19th Theater Support Command, Yongsan, South Korea; and Company B, 724th Main Support  Battalion, 24th Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

Other assignments include: Director of Logistics, Iraq Training Advisory Mission - Army, U.S. Forces – Iraq, Multinational Force Iraq, Baghdad; Student, U.S. Army War College; Strategic Plans Officer, Defense Distribution Center, Defense Logistics Agency, New Cumberland, Pa.; Combat Developer and Chief, Command Planning Group, Combined Arms Support Command, Fort Lee; Division Support Command Movement Control Officer and Battalion Executive Officer, 701st Main Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, Kitzingen, Germany; Transportation Officer, Special Operations Theater Support Element (Europe),  Heidelberg, Germany; Instructor, Joint Strategic Deployment Training Center, U.S. Army Transportation Center and School, Fort   Eustis, Va.; Training with Industry program, Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation, Cherryville,N.C.; Division Support Command Movement Control Officer, 24th Infantry Division, Saudi Arabia and Iraq; and Rifle Platoon Leader, Mortar Platoon Leader, and Company Executive Officer in 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division (Forward), Boeblingen, Germany.

Col. McCormick’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (6th award), Joint Service Commendation Medal (3rd award), Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), Army Achievement Medal, Expert Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab.
