Airmen in the Washington D.C. area have found a unique way to help wounded warriors – one that takes them out of their daily grind and far removed from their normal surroundings.
Tech. Sgt. Nathan Ramos and Staff Sgt. John Purser, both assigned to the 113th Wing of the District of Columbia Air National Guard at Joint Base Andrews, Md., have been providing wounded warriors with an outdoor experience ranging from crawling through the mud to riding four-wheelers across rugged terrain, camping and firing weapons on the range.
The goal of the organization, the Airmen said, is to boost morale and give the wounded warriors an experience they’ll never forget. In September, the Airmen, wounded warriors and volunteers spent a mud-filled and action-packed weekend in Gore, Va.
