PRIOR SERVICE

Interested in leaving the active duty early?

The Palace Chase Program allows Air Force members to honorably exit the full-time military early and serve out their contract part-time in the Air National Guard.

If you find it necessary to leave the Air Force before the expiration of your term, you may be able to do so by joining the Connecticut Air National Guard. In the Guard, you'll serve part-time right here in Connecticut. You can also resume a full-time civilian career, further your education, or enjoy life in other pursuits.

For each year remaining on your Air Force contract, you can complete your obligation by serving two years, part-time, in the Connecticut Air National Guard. (three-for-one if you're an officer)

The skills you've mastered in the Air Force make you a valuable asset to the Connecticut Air National Guard. In fact, many current Guard members have Air Force experience like you. Since the Guard has many of the same specialties as the Air Force, you may be ready to jump right in as an instant expert, teaching the skills you've acquired to other Connecticut Air National Guard members.

Of course you get a monthly paycheck, and many of your military benefits will continue uninterrupted while you serve in the Connecticut Air National Guard. You can even get your "20" and a military retirement when you become eligible.

Finishing up your Air Force commitment?

If your Air Force commitment is coming to an end and you don't plan to re-enlist, the Palace Front Program allows you to keep many of the same benefits accruing while serving part-time as an Air National Guard member.

Considering your years of Air Force experience, it would be a shame to stop using your skills for the good of your country. It would also be a shame to stop accruing those benefits and earning that paycheck.

Palace Front allows you to transition from the Air Force, right into the Air National Guard. You'll serve part-time here in Connecticut, possibly using the same skills you used while on active duty. Plus, with Palace Front, you choose your term of commitment. Contact a Connecticut Air National Guard recruiter to set up a plan that works for you.

Starting later, but no less significantly the wing's geographically separated unit "Yankee Watch" of the 103rd Air Control Squadron, is the oldest unit of its kind in the Air National Guard.
