Resources to educate students, teachers, and the general public about meteorology, space science, earth-observing satellites, weather phenomena and benefits GOES-R will provide to society.
Information and resources to ensure that the user community is prepared for the new types of satellite imagery and data that will be available from the GOES-R satellite series.
The Ice Cover and Concentration product algorithm will use the reflectance properties of the 0.86 and 0.64 µm ABI bands to identify the presence and concentration of ice. Output of this algorithm is available to other algorithms, which require knowledge of the ice information. The determination of Ice Cover and the estimation of Ice Concentration are also important for planning commercial shipping transportation, short-term weather forecasting, water management, and damage control. Long-term records of ice mask and concentration data are valuable for climate change study. + Product ATBD
