The National Wildlife Refuge Improvement Act mandates comprehensive conservation plans (CCPs) for all national wildlife refuges. This course is designed for refuge project leaders, their staffs and other FWS employees involved with refuge planning. It offers guidance for preparing a CCP, providing information on how to meet NEPA and other requirements for refuge planning, and describes the guidelines for involving the public in the planning process. Also included is a review of legal mandates affecting the CCP process.
Objectives:
1. Identify policies, guidelines and legislation that guide the refuge CCP process.
2. Explain the strategy for developing a refuge comprehensive conservation plan.
3. Describe a strategy for involving public participation in the refuge CCP process.
Target Audience:
Refuge project leaders, refuge staff involved with preparing refuge CCP, and realty and other regional office staff involved with the CCP process.
