We know that obesity is linked to several cancers, including hormonally driven cancers such as endometrial and breast cancers. But can strategies to treat obesity, affect obesity-associated inflammatory pathways, and change the hormonal milieux actually make substantive modification of cancer risk and prognosis? What strategies for risk modification are appropriate in patients who often have other comorbid illnesses such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease that affect application of traditional approaches to weight loss (diet and exercise)?
