Description
This course teaches the basics of international acquisition for members of the Defense Acquisition and International Affairs work forces. The course emphasizes encouragement of armaments cooperation and interoperability with U.S. coalition and partner nations. National, DoD, and Military Department policy and regulations concerning international cooperative research, development, test, evaluation, production, and logistics support, as well as security assistance, are covered in some detail. The course identifies the roles and responsibilities of individuals, foreign governments, and industry involved in cooperative acquisition and security assistance programs. Students will learn about key types of agreements that promote U.S. international cooperation policy. The end goal is to provide the tools to prepare, formulate, and support a security assistance sale, direct commercial sale, cooperative acquisition, or hybrid international program.

This course is designed for professionals who are involved in any form of international defense cooperation or security assistance. This course is mandatory for Program Management professionals in the international program management career path. This course is appropriate for personnel in international defense acquisition program offices, support offices, laboratories, headquarters staff offices, as well as offices of defense cooperation and attaches.
