Agriculture
Very little of what we now call the Farm Bill goes to small farmers.
Congressional Retirement
Apparently it has been claimed that all Members of Congress are entitled to their salaries for life after serving just one year in Congress. This is completely false.
Defense
National defense is one of the most important and most legitimate functions of our federal government, and I have great respect for those who serve or have served in the military.
Economy
This Nation could be booming right now if we would allow it to do so.
Education
Colleges and universities have been over charging students and taxpayers for decades.
Energy
Our economy could and should be booming today and would be were it not for government regulators and environmental radicals.
Environment
John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, called global warming “the greatest scam in history.”
Foreign Affairs and Foreign Aid
People who favor foreign aid will always say that it is only about one percent of our budget. This is very misleading.
Health Care
Until the federal government got involved, medical care was cheap and affordable for almost everyone.
Homeland Security
We keep increasing spending on homeland security far beyond any sensible levels.
Housing
All the financial bailouts came about primarily because the federal government got directly and indirectly into the mortgage business.
Immigration
We do not need an increase in immigration. We need to enforce our laws and secure our borders.
Postal Reform
The postal service is experiencing a financial crisis like at no other time in our history.
Regulations and Jobs
The rapid explosion of rules, regulations and red tape that has taken place over the last several years has become a serious problem for our country.
Social Security
Anyone who hopes to receive any type of check from the federal government (Social Security or otherwise) a few years from now in dollars that have not been terribly inflated should start demanding that the federal government become much more financially conservative.
Spending
Almost everyone, except perhaps those on the far left, realizes that federal spending needs to be cut. However, just about everyone wants everything else to be cut but not their programs.
Taxes
We have the most confusing, complicated, convoluted tax system.
Transportation
We now take on average three times as long and incur three times the cost of any other developed nation to complete transportation infrastructure projects.
Veterans
Veterans deserve everything we have promised them and then some, and we should be putting our own country first.
