U.S. Consulate General Auckland

The U.S. Consulate General in Auckland, a branch of the U.S. Diplomatic Mission to New Zealand, is located in the Citigroup Centre in Auckland's CBD.  We are the Mission's representatives to the over one million people in the greater Auckland region as well as the business and academic communities here.

Discussing U.S. policies with New Zealanders is one of the most important things we do; if you would like someone from the Consulate General to speak to your organization, please get in touch with us.

The Consulate General provides all U.S. consular services in New Zealand.  Consular services include help for Americans with emergencies as well as help with documents like passports and reports of birth.  We help non-Americans with visas to the U.S., both for short visits and for immigration.  We also can assist New Zealand companies looking for U.S. partners.

The Embassy in Wellington is unable to provide Consular Services.

Most New Zealanders don't need a visa to visit the U.S. If you do, please make an appointment well in advance of your travel.  While it often takes only a day or so to get a visa, the waiting period can be much longer depending on the time of year or the type of visa you need.

Fraud Warning: Websites and Email

  • Department of State warns of impostor or fraudulent websites and emails.

A number of fraudulent emails have been circulating recently regarding the US Government’s Diversity Visa ('Green Card') Lottery.

There have been instances of fraudulent websites posing as official U.S. Government sites. Some companies posing as the U.S. Government have sought money in order to "complete" lottery entry forms.

Applicants selected in the Diversity Visa random drawing are notified by the Department of State, Kentucky Consular Center by letter,  not email and are provided instructions on how to proceed to the next step in the process.

No other organization or company is authorized by the Department of State to notify Diversity Visa lottery applicants of their winning entry.
